Read below how I managed to find Caroline, the love of my life, by using online dating personals.

How I Met Caroline

Caroline had given up on love. Then she ran into Mary and something in Mary's radiating smile excited Caroline. Upon asking, Caroline learnt that Mary had met the love of her life, Harry, at AmericanSingles.com, an online dating service.

Caroline did not believe Mary, but she was willing to give it a try. She was a tall blond with blue eyes, but she wasn't stunning. She had tiny freckles all over her face and she was slightly overweight. Her thin glasses hid her sky blue eyes but also hid eyebrows that at places were so thin that they exposed pale skin. She accompanied Mary to the internet coffee house on Fifth Avenue in New York, and they entered a few online personals. At first she was hesitant about exposing herself online, and they simply scanned the different personal ads.

Caroline was surprised at the number of handsome men there and something inside her tweaked. I wish, she though to herself as she read success stories, that I too will find love. She had always wanted to visit Paris and stroll through the broad lighted streets holding hands with the man of her life. Now, she thought, maybe I can begin to hope again.

Turning to Mary, she said, "Lets do it! Lets create an online personal ad." Working together, she opened her own personal account and began to write things about herself. Mary advised her not to get too personal in order to leave some of the mystery for later. Caroline remembered that she had sent her mother a digital snap of her taken yesterday at the last office party. She entered her GMail account and found this email in her SENT folder. She placed this snap into her account, and they left.

Caroline began to check her account on an hourly basis, but no one seemed to be taking notice. After a weak, she cursed herself for allowing her hopes to get the better of her and she began to resign herself to a life without love. Days went by and she forgot about the account she had opened.

Mary, she thought, was lucky. She is also a full-figured women with lush brown hair and an exotic Indian complexion. Why should't she find love? But I? Who will look at me? Contrasting Mary to herself, she didn't notice the knock on her door.

Mary interrupted her thoughts, "Howz it going, love?"

"Nothing." Caroline replied with sorrow. "And it seems that no one is even looking at my profile."

Mary was surprised and they checked the account again.

Suddenly Mary exclaimed, "Buddhist? Silly us, we didn't notice this but we must have accidently selected it."

Laughingly, they corrected it. It didn't take long for messages to start coming in. They weren't many - only one or two per day, but Caroline was pleased. Her social life was picking up and she was hopeful again.

I saw her personal ad seven months back, and something she wrote charmed me. Paris, she said, is most beautiful in the fall. I want to stroll through the broad avenues holding hands while the yellow leaves flutter around. Sending her a request to chat, I waited.

We met and hit it off immediately. Her smile lit up the cafe like the sun lights up a country road delivering it from night into day. Nine months have passed since. I love Caroline and we are planning to go to Paris this fall. I am planning to take her to the square above the Louvre, kneel down on the cobblestones that Napolean walked on, take out the diamond ring I bought yesterday and propose. I hope she will say YES!
