We asked 250 men and women what they DO NOT like to receive as romantic gifts from their new dating partners and compiled this top NOT TO BUY five choices for men and women.

Gifts NOT TO BUY Male Singles:

#5 - Clothing Accessories
We know that this is a strange one as it also came up as a best with the girls. But it isn't a good gift for guys for their hats, scarves, pins, gloves and other stuff for them to make their outfits cuter.

#4 - Stuffed Animals
While this came up as a 50/50 type of thing, we listed it as it was in our top five. Cuddly and fury things were not a favorite among male singles.

#3 -Decorative Items
Men don't want a picture frame for their desk, weird black and white photos of kids kissing, hanging face masks, and heart shaped paper weights. They dodn't care for them because they aren't useful.

#2 - Books
We aren't saying that men don't read but while later on a book can make an extremely personal and thoughtful gift, when it came to initial dating, it is a mistake. And this goes for especially self help books.

#1 - Anything with Glitter, Pink or Purple
What are you thinking if you plan to give a guy this gift? Unless it is a gag gift, often not a good starter thing to do, it's not cute, pretty or special. Stay away from these things if you ever want to see this boy again.

Gifts NOT TO BUY for Female Singles:

#5 - Cleaning Supplies
The fact that this came up meant that women have actually gotten this stuff and the fact that it is in the top five is just sad. How does cleaning make you think of matchmaking in any way shape or form.

#4 - Make Up or Pimple Creams
Another insensitive gift mistake because girls want to think that they are already looking good and don't need that cosmetics to improve their looks.

#3 - Costume Jewelry
Again, never a good gift, especially for matchmaking. This is the stuff she buys her self because the real stuff could be too expensive. Don't be fooled in to thinking because she wears it, you should get it.

#2 - Office Supply
She may need them, but don't be fooled in to thinking that she wants them as a gift. What a dating mistake.

#1 - Underwear or Sexual Clothing
Just because sex is on your mind, it doesn't mean that it is on hers and even if it is. Trust me, she doesn't want you to know that. This is a bad move as you barely know this girl and you are already making sexual advances.
