5/20/2004 If You are Having A Baby To Save The Relationship, Think Again. A research done with 5,500 couples in the UK showed that having a baby could have negative effects on a relationship. You here many couples using babies as a last result at an attempt to save a relationship. However, with all the pressures that relationships have today a baby could ultimately be the cause of break up. The research project showed, that even though the beginning affects of childbirth took the focus away from the relationship and on to the child, 65 percent ended in split. Years ago this same research project might have come up with different results. Women were most of the time the care givers and home makers while men were the bread winners. This division among responsibility lead to less confusion among the partners as to who did what. Today however, with the cost of living so high in most places, it is often necessary for both partners to bring home money in order to maintain a normal and healthy life style. This leaves the house work and child raising a blur a blur as most relationships are having a difficult time decided how it should work. The addition of a child just worsens this situation and causes more confusion among the couple. The child, unlike house work cannot be left for later and cannot go untaken care of adding fuel to the fire. Relationship experts recommend addressing the issues that need taking care of prior to the arrival of the child. Don't have an outlook of "we will cross the bridge when we get there" when it comes to children because there is no turning back. The pressures of parenthood should be heavily taken in to consideration and added to the ones that you already have now. It may be time to get that to do list out and talk it over with your partner. Work out any detail so that there be no confusion later. Be honest with each other about the work load you are going to take on to yourself and don't leave anything unsaid or resolved. |
