The "Opposites Attract" of Dating

It is no surprised that we are drawn to the new and unknown. We could see this in the ratings of strange and unusual T.V. show. We could see this in our constant pursuit of space and life after death. Millions of dollars are spent constantly on trying to answer questions to what we don't know and after we have gotten the answer we toss it aside and move on to the next project. There is no reason we should see dating any different.

While opposites attract they don't always get along or stay together. Every love fairy tale we read consists of the pretty poor girl who falls in love with the hansom prince from a far away castle. While the two different worlds might seem enticing to one another we must look a little further a head. We would like to think that prince is tired of his boring life and our young vixen no longer wants work so hard. Once they meet they probably think that they are the perfect match since they were both looking for one another. But what would happen after the wedding, when our young woman is not accepted by the royal family and our hero the prince gets a new family of his own. The problems start already. Could they work it out? Sure, but we just made the complicated world of marriage harder.

It's same thing with your average good girl and her crush on the bad boy. A leopard doesn't change its spots so easily. What seems exciting at first might get old after a while. What will happen when these two decide to have kids? Do you think that she will want her once exciting bad boy as the role model for her kids? OR do you think this hard body boy wants his kid raised by his square wife. Again we aren't saying this doesn't happen, we are just trying to illustrate the difficulties added to an already complex world.

If you are dating someone that seems to really attract you but at the same time is your complete opposite, take a few things in to consideration. Think about what it is that is attractive about this person. Then think slightly ahead as to whether or not this could be a problem later. You might love the fact that this fun, outgoing person brings out the animal in you. But how long to you both plan to do the club life? And when the time comes, will you both be ready to settle down?

That doesn't mean you should start analyzing every single difference that you both posses, for instance different preferences in ice-cream, just the things that may affect you later. Look carefully at his smoking or drinking habits, or his/ her intense love of animals. If these differences can't be worked out, they should be taken seriously so that both your time and your partner's time is not wasted.

Remember how complicated relationships are. We aren't suggesting going out and looking for the next version of you. It's ok to want to keep it interesting with a few differences. Our major suggestion is to try and keep it simple and always look ahead. This will increase your chances of finding marriage material and connecting with people for long term relationships.
