What is a coach? It's not just for athletics anymore. Having your own personal coach is like having our own moivational speaker at your service each week, to review your accomplishments, give you that extra encouragement, pat on the back or a motivational talk to get you through those dreaded "to do" tasks," says Kim Fields, a Personal and Career Coach for the past nine years. Fields says, "A coach is a personal adviser, sounding board and consultant that urges you on and offers advice on how to have it all. Do you really think Michael Jordan would have gottnon the basketball coach with one, I think not!"

Why should you hire a coach? Because it works, says Fields. For the past decade, Fortune 500 companies have been using coaches for their executives. Now individuals are jumping onto the bandwagon and hiring coaches to achieve the same successful results. Hiring a personal coach is becoming the 90's way for indidivuals to obtain their goals and dreams - earn more money, change jobs, balance their careers, or start a new business.

Ms. Fields says, "Geting what you want out of life boils down to just three things:

1. determining what it is you want for yourself, where you want to be and what your purpose is in life;

2. planning and alnalyzing what steps need to be takento get you wher you want to be; and

3. taking the necessary actions to geth you there. All you need to do is take ONE SMALL ACTION a day. By the end of the month, you will have taken 30-31 small steps towards your goal."

"A coach can help you do this and keep you on the right track to your path of achievement, continues Fields. "A client came to to me becaue she wanted help on time management issues. After determining a number of persistent irritations she was dealing with on a regular basis that were depleting here energy and time sources, she began to eliminate those tolerations one by one and developed more confidence in herself to take control of her life. In addition, we evaluated where she was spending an inordinate amount of time at work and developed a time management plan. She began to have more time to do the things she had been wanting to do such as look for real estate, exercise regularly and take a night class."

Another client, a corporate manager, hired Fields because he didn't want to get up on Monday mornings; he couldn't focus on his job and he was missing project deadlines. Within three weeks of their coaching relationship, he developed an organizational plan, and began to do more of the things he liked and was better skilled at in his job. Michael began to immiediately add value to his work, boss and company in just a short period of time. His whole life began to shape up and even his friends noticed the change in him and mentioned to him how much "coaching had turned his life around."
