6/2/2004 Speed Dating Comes to Scotland Speed dating is the new dating craze where you get to date lots of people in one night Speed Dater is holding the first of its speed dating events in Glasgow on Wednesday 19th February 2002 Followed by Edinburgh on Wednesday 25th. Already extremely successful in London, Speed Dater expects Speed Dating to be just as popular north of the border. Like all the best ideas Speed Dating is incredibly simple. Speed Dater arranges for between thirty and fifty single men and women to meet in a bar. Everyone is issued with a scorecard, a pen and a badge. Then the men sit opposite the women and the dating starts. After 3 minutes a bell rings and all the men move round one place. Speed Daters mark on the scorecards who they would like to see again and hand this in at the end of the evening. Where there's a match Speed Dater will pass on contact details within 48 hours. After that it's up to them. Speed Dating is fast, fun and rejection-free. It avoids the awkwardness and potential embarrassment of blind dates and is much easier and less intimidating than trying to meet people in a bar. Simon Prockter, founder of Speed Dater said. ‘I was single myself and had even tried Internet dating. But having spent a couple of awkward evenings with people I just wasn't attracted to, I realised speed dating was the way forward.' Customers can book in advance for events through the website: speeddater.co.uk or by telephoning 020 8452 5719. Speed Dater launched in London in September 2002 and has received extensive press attention from the likes of The Times, Daily Mail, Sunday Post, Time Out, BBC Choice, Radio 5 and GMTV. The Glasgow and Edinburgh launches will be backed by press and internet advertising. |
