MatchNet plc, one of the largest providers of online personals worldwide, announced today that it has named Todd Tapin as the Company's new CEO. MatchNet's founding chairman and CEO, Joe Shapira, and founding president, Alon Carmel, will take on the roles of co-chairman. Mr. Shapira and Mr. Carmel remain actively involved in product design and development initiatives as well as driving expansion into new markets.

“As we complete the transition from a start-up to a major player in the online personals business, I can think of no one more qualified than Todd to lead MatchNet into the next phase,” stated Joe Shapira co-founder and co-chairman of MatchNet plc.

Formerly, Mr. Tapin was CFO of Overture Services, a global leader in commercial search services on the Internet, and a wholly owned subsidiary of Yahoo!, Inc. Todd joined Overture as one of its' first 20 employees, when the company was in its' start-up phase and generating zero revenue. Today, Overture has approximately 1400 people and is expected to generate over $1 billion in annual revenue in 2003. Under Mr. Tapin's direction, Overture achieved profitability in mid-2001 and maintained profitability every quarter thereafter. He raised over $35 million in private equity, led a successful $94 million initial public offering, and completed a $150 million follow on offering. In addition, Mr. Tapin led several acquisitions with a total value of over $500 million. In conjunction with its' CEO, he led the sale of Overture to Yahoo! for $1.6 billion in July, 2003.

Prior to Overture, Mr. Tapin was Senior Vice-President of Finance for Twentieth Century Fox News Corporation. He began his career as a CPA with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells and subsequently held other finance positions with Affiliated Bankshares, Citicorp, and MCA/Universal, as director of finance.
