What might explain this absence of interest between the two species? Scientists feel that it might have been a lack of attraction.. Timing is everything, right? If history has any bearing on the issue, then apparently that's not the case when it comes to the laws of attraction. Scientists who have studied early human genetic material have found no evidence that the earliest humans, who first migrated from Africa into Europe between 30,000 and 40,000 years ago, ever inter-bred with their neighbors, the Neanderthals. This does not follow the pattern of other primates, who seem to have no qualms in mixing it up, even today. Not long after the caveman on the scene, the Neanderthals vanished from the region. What might explain this absence of interest between the two species? Scientists feel that it might have been a lack of attraction. To put it politely, "'Perhaps the Neanderthals' thickset build and furrowed brow were just too different for romance to blossom," explains Chris Stringer of London's Natural History Museum.
